REACH - Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of CHemicals

The EU's REACH regulation is focused primarily on substances and affects:

• All EU-based substance manufacturers
• All EU-based substance importers
• All EU-based importers of articles containing substances of high concern, or articles containing a substance that is intended to be released

where the substance involved is manufactured or imported at a volume ≥1 tonne per year, per registrant.

REACH includes substances on their own (including metals, metallic oxides and metallic salts) or in preparations (such as metallic alloys).

If you are manufacturing substance in the EU, or importing substances into the EU then it is very likely that you must develop a REACH strategy for your business.
